Equal access to justice is a foundational principle of the rule of law. Legal aid ensures that no citizen is denied justice due to economic or social disabilities.
Article 39A mandates free legal aid for weaker sections. Section 12 of the Legal Services Authorities Act guarantees free lawyers to women, children, SC/ST members, and low-income earners.
NALSA provides free legal services to eligible weaker sections of society and organizes Lok Adalats for dispute resolution.
